Minnie C. Devoe died in the peace of her home, in Grooville, NY, on the evening of March 3, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Minnie Carol Brush was born Christmas day, 1937, to Inda and Harmon Brush. She was the oldest of 7 children, whom she helped raise. She continued mothering siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, stepchildren, neighbors, and basically anyone in need, through her final days.

When her extended family of eleven children were old enough, Minnie started to work outside the home to help make ends meet. She worked for a well-known local doctor and helped him write a book, taking his handwritten notes and making them flow into a story. Minnie worked at the local Community General Hospital as a unit secretary on the evening shift, after making sure everything at home was in order and dinner prepped and ready to cook. After the family was raised, Minnie completed a full 20 years’ service with Sullivan County to assure her own pension, and security for her retirement years, including SC Community College and SC probation department’s executive secretary.

In addition to all of this, Minnie was an avid gardener and baker, achieving near fame status for her pies and cookies. After retirement, she returned to what she loved most, raising children, baking, and gardening.

Minnie was predeceased by her husband, Nelson “Neil” Misner, husband William Davenport and husband Paul Devoe. She was also predeceased by her brothers, James Brush, Cort Brush, Barry Brush, sister Juanita Minkler, and an infant sister Brenda Brush. She Is predeceased by her stepdaughter Jeannie Devoe, daughter in law Ann Marie “Candy” Misner, and brother-in-law Art Kearney.

Minnie is survived by her sister, Penny Kearney, her children Patricia Steele, David Misner (Vickie), Michael Misner, Susan Davenport, and Mary Davenport (William Sarles), her stepchildren RoseMary Hankins, Caroline Devoe, Rita Devoe, Beth Cronk (Thomas), and Richard Devoe.
