With heavy hearts we share news of the passing of Margaret (Peggy) Kennedy at the age of 86 years. Peggy was a 60 year member of the Smallwood community where she lived a life of commitment to family, friends and service. Born and raised in Port Chester, she had many fond memories of numerous athletic endeavors and summers spent with family on the Wing Farm in Millbrook. After her graduation from Port Chester Schools, she went on to Cortland Teachers College as a Physical Education major. After 11 years at home, Peggy resumed her 20-year teaching career as a classroom teacher at the Duggan School of the Monticello Central School District where she was respected and admired by students, parents, faculty and administration. Upon her retirement, Peggy continued to enjoy outdoor activities such as tennis, kayaking, swimming, water-skiing, cross country skiing, and boating/ downhill skiing with Ed, Sr. After Ed Senior’s death, Peg further participated in organizations and projects for the betterment of the community. She was a loyal parishioner of St. Peter's Parish predominantly attending St. Joseph’s in Mongaup Valley. Peggy was involved with the Shepherd's Pantry in White Lake and was a key player in the establishment of the Forest Reserve at Smallwood.  She was the 2017 Bethel Lions Citizen of the Year.
