Alma Donna Denman July 27, 1916 – January 25, 2016 Alma Donna Denman, a lifelong resident of the area and retired school teacher, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 99. She was the daughter of the late Nellie Ann Tremper and Edwin Philip Knack, born on July 27, 1916 in Coldenham, NY. Alma was a proud graduate of New Paltz College where she pursued a degree in education. Teaching was a true passion for her. Several years later, in 1943, Alma married Lewis Denman and together they moved to his hometown of Livingston Manor. Livingston Manor is where they rooted and raised their family. In her free time and after she retired from teaching she pursued another passion by joining the Roscoe-Rockland Garden Club where she served as secretary for many years. She was also a 60 year member and past Matron of the Sullivan-St. Tammany Chapter #298 Order of the Eastern Star when she wasn’t outside gardening either in the community or at home. All who knew her knew she always had a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by so many family and friends near and far. Alma leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children: James and his wife Gail of Livingston Manor, Lee of Ithaca and Margo and her partner Uadajane Ketcham of Ithaca; her grandchildren: Kevin and his wife Meagan of Virgina, Eric and his wife Jenny of Napanoch, Tracy and friend Dan of Nebraska, Scott and his wife Elizabeth of Endicott, Emma and Ainslie of Ithaca; and her great-grandchildren: Jacob, Alexandria, Zachary, Lyla and Lucas; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband Dr. Lewis G. Denman and her sister Margaret Gesvantner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alma’s name can be made to the Roscoe-Rockland Garden Club, www.greatnonprofits.org for use at the Harris Hospital Garden or to the Livingston Manor Renaissance, www.livingstonmanorrenaissance.com.
