Obituary of Mary L. Rasmussen

Mary L. Rasmussen, of Hurleyville, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Memorial Sloan Kettering. She was 77.

She was the daughter of the late Hugh Bisset and Mary Sheperd, born on April 22, 1940 in Queens, NY.

Mary worked as a sales rep in the hotel industry for many years. She was known to be a very creative person and expressed that in many ways, spending time outside gardening and volunteering at the Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop as a seamstress working on the wardrobes and costumes or practicing her photography and videography. But above all else she relished being a grandmother and deeply enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Susan Rasmussen and her companion Mark Maurice of Florida, Carey Blanchard and her husband Kenneth of Florida, Tracy Ackerley and her husband Walter of Liberty, Robin Baggatta and her companion John Mitchell of Pennsylvania, Wendy Ackerley of Hurleyville and Dawn Perneszi and her husband Michael of Hurleyville; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 11a to 1p at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A celebration of life will be held at 1pm at the funeral home.
