Edith S. Porter, of Hurleyville, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at home. She was 89.

Edith was the daughter of the late Charles C. Smith and Addie Wright, born on May 6, 1929 in Monticello, NY.

Edith worked in the medical field for USDA and Prasad until her retirement. She was a member of the Hurleyville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children Carol Bridges (Bob), Peggy Porter and Susan DeMestrio; her seven grandchildren: Heather Welles, Ryan Edwards, Cheyanne Edwards, Michael DeMestrio, Christina DeMestrio, Steven DeMestrio and Victoria Johnson; Two great-grandchildren: Valerie and Austin Welles.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Raymond Porter, who passed away in 2010; as well as her four brothers Rev. Arthur, Roy, Alton and Lewis Smith; and her sisters Ethel Misner and Emily Bernhey.

Donations in Edith’s honor can be made out to the United Methodist Church of Hurleyville, Juvenile Diabetes Association or Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Services will be held on Monday June 4, 2018 from 2 to 4 PM at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne NY 12788.
