Austin “Buddy” Hardison Jr. of Monticello passed away on February 15, 2016 at home. He was born on September 1, 1936 to the late Austin Hardison Sr. and Marie Hardison in Belhaven, North Carolina. He will be dearly missed. Austin grew up in Brooklyn NY attending PS 11 elementary and George Westonhouse Highschool. He met and soon married Rose Ware whom he adored dearly and of that union had four children; Miranda, Harold, Sheldon “Butchie” and Michael. While in Brooklyn Austin attended Zion Baptist Church. In 1993 Austin and his wife moved to Monticello where he easily became a corner stone of the community. Austin is best remembered for being a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Many of his closest friends and family will remember him for his love of Stewart’s vanilla ice cream and great memories of spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with nature walks and western movies. Austin leaves behind his sister Dorothy “Dot” Coit of Dayton, Florida , his children Miranda, Harold and Michael, his ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren his aunt Grace of North Carolin, his brother-in-law Homer Ware of Brooklyn, sister-in-law Lillie Ann Ware of Brooklyn, His daughter-in-law Tonya Hardison of Brooklyn, his son-in-law Romel McKune of Monticello and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins along with countless friends especially his special friends Henry and Jimmy. He is predeceased by his parents along with his brother Leon Hardison, his sister Evelyn Edwards and his son Sheldon. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20, from 10 am to 12 noon at the Friendship Baptist Church at 11 Ferndale Road, Ferndale NY 12734. A funeral service will be held in Austin’s honor following the visitation at noon. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Woodbourne.
