Obituary of Marilyn Rose Costa

Marilyn Rose (Mickie) Costa passed away peacefully on March 19, 2016. She was born on February 11, 1935 in Teaneck, NJ to Marie and Fred Mickelson. She moved with her family to Grahamsville, NY in 1946 and graduated from Tri-Valley Central School in 1953. She worked at Tri-Valley Central School for several years after graduating. On October 25, 1958 she married the love of her life Fred Costa and settled in the family home on South Hill. Fred and Marilyn became well known for the famous pizza that they cooked and served out of their basement for many years. Marilyn began working for the Town of Neversink in May 1976 and served as Deputy Town Clerk until December 1979. She was then elected and served as Town Clerk from January 1980 until her retirement in December 1991. Marilyn was a dedicated lifelong member of the Grahamsville United Methodist Church. She has been a member of the Grahamsville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years, serving as their Honorary Mom for the past 10 years. Marilyn is survived by her children: Tony Costa, Melissa and her husband Michael O’Dell, Matthew and his wife Patricia Costa and Fernando and his wife Kim Costa; as well as ten grandchildren: Alyson, Jos, Miya, Blake, Joshua, Hope, Allanna, Colby, Jordan and Craig; one great grandson: Jason; and her brother Raymond Mickelson and sister Karen Sweetser. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Marie Mickelson as well as her loving husband Fred Costa. She was also predeceased by her brothers Fred and Robert Mickelson and her sister Sandra Huffman. Friends and family may call on Friday March 25, 2016 at Colonial Funeral Home in Woodbourne, NY from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be at the United Methodist Church in Grahamsville on Saturday March 26, 2016 at 10 am, Rev. Bob Kerston and Peggy Anne Sauerhoff officiating. Interment at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Grahamsville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
