Obituary of Caroline L. Oberst

Home: Monticello, New York USA Place of Birth: Queens, New York USA Obituary Caroline L. Oberst Monticello, NY Caroline L. Oberst, of Monticello, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side at Orange Regional Medical Center on Thursday, April 7, 2016. She was 79. Born on October 11, 1936 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter Julius Kiesel and the late Eleanor Epp Kiesel. Caroline was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church. She was active in the senior community - serving as Corresponding Secretary for Monticello Senior Citizens Assn. She was a Foster Parent for over 40 years as well as providing an emergency home for foster children. She was an incredible cook and was so generous with her time and her donations. Mom was known for her singing voice - she sang like an angel and sang at many family weddings. Mom will be missed by all of us, but especially by her friends at Monticello United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Richard F. Oberst Jr. (Susan) of Wappinger Falls, NY; her daughter, Faith (Gus) Metzinger of Kenoza Lake, NY; her brother, Walter Kiesel (Kathleen) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Christine Herbert of Wappinger Falls, Kimberly Camey (Frank) of Poughkeepsie, Kelly Lewis (Robert) of Wappinger Falls, Colleen Koleosho (Sylvester) of Cohoes, NY and Bridgette Metzinger and her fiance-to-be, Ryan Arnold of Elmira, NY; great-grandchildren, Richard Herbert and Angelina Camey; a special sister-in-law, Kitty Oberst of Cleveland, OH and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Richard F. Oberst Sr., and by a sister, Barbara Barth. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10 AM to 1 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello, NY. Memorial funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11:30 AM during the visiting hours. Pastor Melvin Boone will officiate. Memorial donations may be made in Caroline's name to Monticello United Methodist Church, 445 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701 or to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
