Obituary of George S. Bashford

Bashford, a fourteen year Sullivan County resident, passed away at his home after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 65. He was the son of the late Robert F. and Lillian Hickson Bashford and was born on September 26, 1952 in Summit, NJ. George was an active member of White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church. He had worked as a self-employed carpenter. He had many hobbies and was technically proficient and could fix anything from automobiles to everything inside his home. He was also a US Navy Reservist, active from 1976 - 1982. He is survived by his children, George S. Bashford Jr. of Orlando, FL and Amanda Malmendier and her husband Brian of Woodbourne, NY; sisters, Ann Berner of Illinois and Ruth Steinheim of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jo-Ann Bashford and by his brothers, Bob Bashford and Frank Bashford; his sister, Joan Bashford and by a younger brother who died in infancy. As per George's wishes, cremation will take place at Cedar Hill crematory in Middehope, NY. A Celebration of George's life will be held at a reception on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10 AM at the Church Hall at White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, Route 52, White Sulphur Springs, NY.
