Obituary of Beatrice Meachum

Home: Liberty, New York USA Place of Birth: Brooklyn, New York USA Beatrice Meachum Liberty, NY On December 19, 2015, Beatrice Meachum was called home to be with her Lord. She passed away peacefully at Catskill Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was 94. "There's magic in a Mother's touch, And sunshine in her smile. There's love in everything she does To make our lives worthwhile. We can find both hope and courage Just by looking in her eyes. Her laughter is a source of joy, Her works are warm and wise. There is a kindness and compassion To be found in her embrace, And we see the light of Heaven Shining from a Mother's face." Beatrice was born on June 26, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY to her late parents, Hans C. and Rose F. Beatrice Jensen. She moved to Liberty in 1946 with her husband and became an active member of the community. She was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Liberty; a member of Catholic Daughters Court Mary Anthony # 883; a charter member of St. Peter's Rosary Society; a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary - Clarence Hoyt VFW Post #9217, Liberty, NY; a 40-year member of Sullivan County Cooperative Extension Liberty Belles and for over 25 years was a member of the Foster Grandparent Program at Liberty High School. Beatrice looked forward to passing on for she knew she would be with her Lord and could start her ultimate job of looking down on her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who she loved so dearly. Her final wish would be: "Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glint on the snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn rain. When you waken in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of the quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die." Beatrice is survived by her five children; Peter C. Meachum and his fiancé, RaeEllen Becker of Swan Lake, NY, Kathleen Meachum of Mechanicsburg, PA, Maureen Barber and her husband Clarence of Liberty, NY, Nancy Meachum of Ilion, NY and Linda Brewer of Bellwood, PA; 13 grandchildren, Todd, Terri, Sandi, Tracy, Samantha, Tonia, Jeremiah, Heather, Christopher, Jasmine, Matthew, Korin and Angela; 32 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
