Michael J. Laurich, 93, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at his residence in Smallwood, NY after a long battle with cancer. He was born on August 9, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Mike was a retired shop steward for Con Edison Electric Company. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving from 1941 to 1946 as a Navy Frogman which is the precursor of today's Navy Seals. Mike was known throughout his community of Smallwood for his generosity at Halloween. Children came from all over to his home at Halloween.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Hettinger of Florida and his many friends in Smallwood. He was predeceased by his wife, Frieda Schaller, in 1996.
Friends may call on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 7-9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 18 at 10 AM at Ramsay's Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Route 17B, Bethel, NY where Mike will be laid to rest with his beloved wife.
