Obituary of Ramon B. Gonzalez

Ramon B. Gonzalez, a resident of the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, NY entered into rest at Catskill Regional Medical Center on Tuesday June 5, 2018. He was 85 years old. The son of the late Emiliano Gonzalez and Jennie Mae Stanton Gonzalez, he was born on February 25, 1933 in Monticello, NY. Ramon was married to the love of his life Mary E. Gonzalez for 55 years, until her passing in 2009. Ramon was a long time Vice President of Gonzalez Motor Sales in Monticello. When that business closed he became a Junior High and High School teacher and retired after 26 years. He enjoyed target shooting and firearms repair and was known as the best shot, either with pistol or rifle on the eastern side of New York State. He was a Benefactor Member of the NRA and also held many volunteer positions throughout his life. He was also a lifetime member of the Monticello Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks. He was an avid swimmer and loved to play volleyball. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A family statement reads: "Dad, Grandpa will be remembered for his quick wit and fun-loving attitude towards life. He cared greatly for his family and friends and always enjoyed getting together with them. He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed." Ramon is survived by three sons: Juan R. Gonzalez of Paramus, NJ, Ramon B. Gonzalez Jr. of Liberty and Tomas J. Gonzalez of Monticello; eight grandchildren and their wives and one great granddaughter: Jonathan, Julia, Ramon III, his wife Suzanne and daughter Ella, Daniel and his wife Erica, Marc, David, Spencer and Logan Gonzalez. Plus several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Valentin Gonzalez. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff for the wonderful care that Ramon received at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center. He made some very special friends there. As per Ramon's request, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation will be held at the convenience of the family.
