Obituary of Charles P Eichenauer

Charles P. Eichenauer, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Achieve Rehab and Nursing. He was 101.

 

He was the son of the late Henry Eichenauer and Dora Rose born on November 18, 1916 in Liberty, NY.

 

Charles proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 714th Tank Battalion of the 12th Armored Division. He went on to start his working career which included being an owner of The Old Mill Restaurant in Mt. Upton, NY, and ultimately retiring from Cablevision as Comptroller.

 

He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was the past president and treasurer of both the Liberty Ambulance Corp. and the Sullivan County Golf and Country Club where he was a member for over 50 years. He was a past treasurer of the Liberty Elks Club, a member of the VFW Clarence Hoyt Post #9217, The American Legion Russel Sprague Post #109, and a member of the Happy Footers Square Dance group.

 

Charles lived until recently in his childhood home. He was devoted to his family, showing pride in all their accomplishments. He was an avid and excellent golfer, and brightened any event he went to with his love of dancing

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews, all for whom he cared for and loved. He is predeceased by his brothers: Harry, George, Robert, Richard and Jackson; and sisters: Lillian Reich, Elizabeth O’Connell-MacPherson, Emma Totten, Jackie Harris and Ruth VonderEsch.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Charles’ name can be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24 Chestnut St. Liberty, NY 12754.

 

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7pm on Friday, April 20th at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty, NY 12754. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 21st at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24 Chestnut St., Liberty, NY 12754. Rev. Johanna Andritz will officiate. Burial will follow with full military honors at Liberty Cemetery.
