Obituary of Susan Dzurica

Susan Dzurica, of Albany, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was 53.

She was the daughter of the late James J. and Joan M. Basler Dzurica, born on August 28, 1964 in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Susan was a proud graduate of Liberty High School, she then continued on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Geneseo and then her Master’s Degree from SUNY Stony Brook. Susan worked as a Database Administrator for New York State Information Technology Services. In her free time, she was a member and lector at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany and was a devout Catholic who was very involved in her church. Susan loved to travel and visited many countries with her good friend Lee York. She was known to be a very generous in sharing her home with her family, including her mother and her nieces and nephews who attended college in Albany. She was a loving sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her, she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

She is survived by her siblings Sylvia Boyd and her husband John of Connecticut, Joan Wilbur and her husband Paul of Mongaup Valley, John Dzurica of Albany and James Dzurica and his wife Dorien of Monticello; 11 nieces and nephews Johnathan Boyd, David, Steven and Timothy Wilbur, Harry, John Duncan, Andrew, Jenny, Tricia, James and Michael Dzurica; aunts Lorrie Pisano and Maryann Sparks; as well as many cousins.

Donations in Susan’s name can be made to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle St. Albany, NY 12202 or Community Hospice Foundation, C/O St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation, 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9pm on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty, NY 12754. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, February 20th at St. Peter’s Church, 262 N. Main St. Liberty, NY 12754. Fr. William Scafidi will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
