Obituary of William Jay Everett

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William Jay Everett known to his family as "BJ" passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Born February 19, 1969, BJ was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County with an unrivaled passion for all things outdoors. Whether it be suiting up in the winter to ride his snowmobile or dressing in full camouflage during deer season, you could always find him with a smile on his face as he embarked on getting outside to do what he loved. He was most happy doing his outdoor adventures with his children and the rest of his family. It will forever be his family's most prized memories when they shared those experiences with him. BJ had his own way of living but one thing could be depended on; he loved his family immensely and possessed a great sense of protection over them. He had a heart of gold and that showed through on the rare times he would open up to his family one on one. Sadly there was an all too familiar darker side to his tragic death that many families are suffering through. BJ had struggled with addiction later in his short life and it was a storm he was not able to weather even while surrounded by the love and support of his family.

The sadness of such an unnecessary loss is a burden his family will now forever have. Every tragic loss is preventable and William's family would like to remind other families suffering through the same ordeal that help is available. The first and ironically the greatest obstacle is getting the individual to want to help themselves. Above all, nobody is a lost cause and every life is worth saving.

BJ was a loving Father, Son, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, Friend. He is survived by his adoring children Billy, Dylan, and Cheyenne Everett, granddaughter Taylor Everett, devoted mother Penny Heinle, stepfather Daniel Grzonka, sister Jill Beach and brother in-law William Beach, brother Terry Henry, five loving nieces and nephews as well as five great nieces and nephews.
