Vera M. Kile, a lifelong resident of Ulster Heights, NY, passed away at Sapphire Nursing and Rehab of Goshen on March 20, 2021. She was 94. Vera was born May 28, 1926 to the late Winfield and Adeline Yonker Rode. She married James Kile on October 12, 1947 at St. Michael's Church in Ulster Heights. Vera was an excellent cook and baker. Not a day went by without baking or trying a new recipe. She hosted holiday dinners until last year when she became ill. She also enjoyed knitting and gardening and never missed Jeopardy. She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Woodbourne, and a member and past treasurer of the American Legion Post 111 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Jim; her daughter Gail Hornbeck and her companion Tom Nesbitt; two sons Don Kile and Ken Kile; granddaughters Erin Hornbeck and Amy Navitsky and her husband Scott; great-granddaughters Taylor, Irelynd and Emersyn; her sister-in-law Ruth McKeon; her cousin Mary Coniker, who was more like a sister; as well as other cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son James E. Kile and her sister Clara Vogler. Due to continued health concerns, there will be no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
