Obituary of Archie T. Dean

Home: Neversink, New York USA Place of Birth: Liberty, New York USA Archie T. Dean Jr, 91, of Neversink, NY, passed away on Thursday April 3, 2014 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. The son of the late Archie and Emogene Merritt Dean, he was born on Nov. 17, 1922 in Liberty, NY. Archie was retired from the Department of Environmental Protection in Grahamsville, NY. He was also a farmer and land developer. He was very active in his community. A member of Liberty Lodge # 521 F&AM., he was a former District Deputy and on March 19, 2014, he was awarded his 70-year pin and certificate. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason - Valley of Binghamton. He joined the Revonah Chapter # 446, Order of the Eastern Star, on Dec. 16, 1945 and was Patron of the Revonah Chapter in 1977. He was a charter member of Neversink Fire Dept and was a former commissioner. He was also a charter member of the Neversink First Aid Squad. He was a Director and Agent for Callicoon Co-Op Insurance Co. FOR 57 years; a member of the Neversink Planning Board and the Neversink Zoning Board and the Neversink-Rondout Antique Machinery Assn. He leaves behind his son, George A. Dean and wife Barbara of Neversink; daughters, Carolyn Dean Hill of Neversink and Bonnie Sue Dean Vandenberg and husband Glenn of Claryville; son-in-law, Thomas Poley of Neversink; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Smith Dean of Neversink; fourteen grandchildren ; twenty-three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Louise George Dean; daughter, Shirley Marie Dean Poley; brother, Franklin Dean and son-in-law, Steven T. Hill. Visiting hours are on Monday April 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty, NY. Neversink Fire Dept. will hold services at 7:30 PM; Eastern Star services at 8 PM and Masonic Services will be at 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 8 at 11 AM at Ramsay's Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Kersten officiating. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville, NY.
