Obituary of Grace Carr Heins

Home: Ferndale, New York USA Place of Birth: Ferndale, New York USA Obituary Grace Carr Heins Ferndale, NY Grace Carr Heins, retired owner of Carrland's Dairy in Ferndale, NY and a lifetime area resident passed away on Saturday July 19, 2014. She was 97. The daughter of the late Dewey and Hertha Trips Carr, she was born on November 11, 1916 in Ferndale. She was the widow of Theodore "Ted" Heins. Grace graduated from Liberty High School early at the age of 15. She graduated from Middletown Business School at 17. Grace married Ted on October 8, 1938 and together in 1949 they began Carrland's Dairy. Grace enjoyed baking, knitting and was an avid reader. In her later years, she enjoyed watching golf, the Yankees, Jeapordy, doing puzzles and, most of all, playing cards. Grace was a wonderful and loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Her most precious time was spent with her grandsons, who loved her very much. Survivors include her loving daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Andrew Herzog of Monticello and two loving grandsons, Adam and Jordan of NYC; her sister, Betty Carr Higgins of Bethlehem, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased her sister, Edith Carr Crispell. Grace's family wishes to extend their thanks to her longtime caregiver, Amy Thomas, for her wonderful care, kindness and love. She helped make Grace's wish to remain in her home possible. Graveside services will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 12:30 PM at Brookside Cemetery in Harris, NY.
