Obituary of Harris W. Myers

Home: Kauneonga Lake, New York USA Place of Birth: Callicoon, New York USA Harris W. Myers Kauneonga Lake, NY Harris W. Myers, a lifelong Sullivan County resident, passed away on Saturday December 7, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 73 years of age. The son of the late Stanley and Alberta Doughty Myers, he was born on July 26, 1940 in Callicoon, NY. A self-employed contractor, Harris was an active community member. He belonged to the Grahamsville Reformed Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of the NRA and he was a Master Hunter Safety Instructor and was President of Cher Acres Hunting Club, Kauneonga Lake, NY. He belonged to the Federation of Sportman's Clubs of Sullivan County, where was Habitat Chairman. He was a former 4-H leader. He was a graduate of Morrisville State College. Harris was also a musician and was the leader of the 5 Notes Band. He also played trumpet with Louis Armstrong and with Bob Herring (the Polka King). He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Timco Myers at home; sons, Stanley Myers of Virginia, Harris Myers Jr. and wife Doreen of South Carolina and Stephen Myers of South Carolina; stepsons, Steven Timco of NY, Orsino Iacovone and Joseph Iacovone, both of Ohio; daughters, Dawn Dauch and husband Gilbert of Florida and Rachel Myers of Virginia; stepdaughter, Concetta Iacovone of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Myers. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 13, 2013 at 11 AM at Grahamsville Reformed Church. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel, NY and will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Federation of Sportsman's Clubs of Sullivan County, 122 Jaketown Rd., Swan Lake, NY 12783.
